AI-generated disinformation moves faster than most organisations can track it, shaping public opinion, market confidence and institutional trust before a single fact-check catches up. Knowing which narratives are genuine, who is behind the ones that are not and how far they have spread has become a discipline of its own.
Gartner has now formally defined and assessed that market for the first time, naming Identrics within the group Gartner calls Specialists in its June 2026 Emerging Market Quadrant for Narrative Intelligence – Startup Vendors.

Gartner projects that close to half of chief communications officers will adopt narrative intelligence tools by 2029 to support reputation monitoring, as disinformation threats grow more sophisticated. The World Economic Forum has also named disinformation among the most significant short-term global risks organisations now face.
For us, this signals that narrative intelligence has moved past being a niche concern for a handful of teams to a discipline with its own vendor field, its own evaluation criteria and a recognised place in how organisations think about information risk.
What This Quadrant Measures
Gartner plots vendors across 2 axes:
- Potential to Execute
- Potential for Market Disruption
As a result of that, 4 quadrant groups come out of that:
- Pace Setters
- Market Shapers
- Specialists
- Pioneers
Identrics sits in the Specialists quadrant, alongside two other vendors, for our strength in combining specialised AI capabilities backed by robust human research.
What that means, according to Gartner’s own description of the Specialists group, centres on one point:
How Identrics Approaches the Problem
Our edge comes from pairing specialised AI with human research and threat intelligence, giving specific sectors more exact, vertical-specific intelligence without the weight of a large, general-purpose suite.
That is not an abstract claim. It shows up directly in how our products work.
The SitReps (situational reports) our teams produce give clients a short, mostly data-driven situation report on stories still in development, built to be read in around seven minutes, with narrative attacks and sharp turns flagged explicitly rather than buried in a feed.
Identrics Emulator takes that further forward: it uses real-world data to model how a narrative scenario could develop, letting communications teams pentest attack scenarios, plan for a board discussion, or train a team in a safe information environment before anything happens for real.
Neither service we do runs on AI output alone.
Our Information Integrity Specialists shape the data relevancy for each client, and every report goes through rules-based verification before it reaches anyone.
That is the human-backed research layer Gartner names directly when describing what separates the Specialists group from platforms built for broad, general-purpose monitoring.
For Government, NGO and Defence Organisations
Coordinated disinformation aimed at public institutions rarely announces itself. It spreads through specialised news outlets, closed channels and language communities that generic, keyword-based monitoring tools miss by design.
This is where Identrics’ work concentrates. Sitreps cover geopolitical intelligence, in-country narratives, country reputation in foreign media and elections monitoring, giving government and defence clients a fixed, trustworthy read on a specific area of interest rather than a generic feed of mentions.
Our Information Emulator adds a forward-looking layer on top: modelling emergent stories, hostile narratives and regulatory implications ahead of a real event, so teams can prepare a response before an attack takes hold rather than after.
What We Have Built
- Identrics Emulator, which models future narrative scenarios from real-world data for attack pentesting, communications planning and safe-environment training.
- SitReps, short automated situation reports covering geopolitical intelligence, elections monitoring, and country, personal, brand and supply chain reputation.
- Annex, an analytical platform unifying our AI services for researchers, academics and subject matter experts, with support for custom taxonomies.
- Pingrid, a global knowledge base of authors, journalists, influencers and spokespersons, built to support PR and communications strategy.
What Comes Next
Generative AI is not going to make this problem simpler.
The organisations best placed to respond will be the ones with detection and human research already in place before the next narrative attack, not after it.
We will keep building in the direction Gartner’s own analysis points to: sharper vertical intelligence, and the partnerships needed to extend what Identrics can do beyond the parts of the narrative intelligence life cycle where we are already strong.
“First Truth Wins” has guided how we think about this from the start, that the first account of an event tends to shape how people read everything that follows, which is exactly why early, human-backed detection matters more than late correction.
Discover how predictive simulation can strengthen your team’s capability to respond to coordinated disinformation before it causes damage.
